While some of the links here are affiliate links, we use most of these products ourselves and we would never recommend a service or product that we didn’t believe in, regardless of affiliate fees that might be available.
Bluehost – Bluehost offers a comprehensive set of features for a great price. We especially appreciate the quality of customer service they provide.
Practice Pay Solutions – A merchant account allows you to accept credit cards from your clients and customers. If you have at least $800 in monthly income, this is a more cost effective solution than PayPal. We’ve been a customer for years and appreciate their low rates and always helpful staff.
Professional Cart Solutions – This is Practice Pay Solutions’ private label of 1shoppingcart.com, and the features and pricing are identical. We’ve used this system for years and it’s so comprehensive with a shopping cart, autoresponders, and an affiliate management program, that we still find new ways to help our clients use it! (BTW, this is an area of expertise for us and we’d be happy to help you set up your system.)
Aweber – If you just need autoresponders without all the other cart features, we recommend Aweber. We’ve used this with clients for years and it quite reliably gets your email messages to your subscribers. It also has a neat feature that will email a notice to subscribers of a new blog post. Very cool!
Basecamp – This is what we use with our clients to manage their projects. We’ve been using it for years and couldn’t live without it. Our clients like it, too!
Popup/Opt-in Form Handler
Action Popup – This is actually 3 tools in one. Action Popup is unblockable and works on entry or exit. It’s what I’m using on this site. Action Optin lets you put an opt-in form on any page and when a new subscriber submits the form, they stay on the current page. This is great for sales pages where you’d like to get the opt-in, but don’t want visitors to leave the sales page. Not only can these run on any web page, they’re also available as WordPress plugins. Last, Action Comments is specifically for WordPress blogs and lets you give commenters the option of joining your list when they leave their comments.
Freshbooks – FreshBooks is an online invoicing and time tracking service. We use this service for sending proposals to prospects, invoices to clients, and tracking timesheet info for our team. We’ve been using it for invoicing since February, timesheets since May, and just recently started using the new estimates feature. We love this service!
Roboform – Roboform completely automates password entering and form filling. No more needing to remember user names and passwords, or having to manually manage your list of logins. I love this product!
Amember – This is a package you buy and install on your server. While not expensive, it allows a great deal of flexibility if you want customers to have their own login for one or more parts of your website.
Digital Covers Software
eCover Software Pro – eCover Software creates really nice looking cover images without the need for Adobe Photoshop. It can create book covers, CD or DVD discs and containers, membership cards, spiral bound report covers, and more. And it’s unbelievably inexpensive.
